In his systematic encounters with pop culture, Kelley Walker has earned himself the nickname of “post-pop wizard”. Walker produces a series of loaded pop images through a copy, cut, and reprint technique that often involves screen-printing and an Epson ink jet printer. The artist also explores the concept of contamination by integrating alien bodies and elements to his works. Whether computer glitches appearing on photographs of natural disasters, or perfectly constructed brick walls cemented with pages from decoration reviews, the results are often violent, hilarious, spontaneous, and overdetermined all at once. Rather than simple silkscreens, Walker’s masterful precision often creates the impression of looking at a mosaic.

Buying Handmade

For small-scale, home decor artisans, their brands are their livelihoods and it reflects in the care that they take to hone their craft and produce something of real value. When given a choice between something that has been churned out by a machine in a factory and something that was beautifully crafted in someone’s garage, more consumers are opting for the latter. Every choice we make with regards to how we exercise our buying power, makes a difference.

Detoxify Your Life

The link between physical, mental and emotional wellbeing is becoming clearer. With the move to cleaner living and mindfulness, we’ve seen a pivot towards a detox movement that affects all categories of life. Detoxing takes many forms from eating healthier, and meditating, to uncluttering your space and choosing house decor items that stimulate good moods.
