Are you looking for a really cool natural decoration for your room? We can give you that with this medium pendant lamp that perfectly balances the earthy, the cool and the refined with it’s flat round shape. Measuring 45cm x 15cm, it will add a contemporary rawness to your home.

Details

Designed in our studio by Sara Efia Reddin, this contemporary shape elevates an artisanal tradition to create a contemporary decorative object that is a pleasure to sit or walk underneath with it’s black stripes and circles.

This natural pendant lamp is woven by hand using a traditional basket weaving technic from Bolgatanga, in the north of Ghana. The delicate open weave stripes spread light patterns across walls.

Woven with the grass Veta Vera, which is naturally durable. This medium pendant lamp in natural colours is beautiful above a dining table, in a bedroom, in a living room or hallway.

This pendant light is perfect alone or accumulated with other lamps in the Night & Day collection.

Technique

Basket weaving from Bolgatanga is a a traditional African weaving technic. The grass Veta Vera grows locally. The reeds are twisted by hand and small batches are coloured using vegetable and food dyes in cauldrons.

The weaving is tight and smooth. Our lamps are woven by an association of weavers, these weavers have honed their art to make our contemporary shapes.

This lamp takes 2-3 days to weave

Assembled to order in our workshop, now based in Barcelona, with CE certified electrics and brass fixtures.

Buying Handmade

For small-scale, home decor artisans, their brands are their livelihoods and it reflects in the care that they take to hone their craft and produce something of real value. When given a choice between something that has been churned out by a machine in a factory and something that was beautifully crafted in someone’s garage, more consumers are opting for the latter. Every choice we make with regards to how we exercise our buying power, makes a difference.

Detoxify Your Life

The link between physical, mental and emotional wellbeing is becoming clearer. With the move to cleaner living and mindfulness, we’ve seen a pivot towards a detox movement that affects all categories of life. Detoxing takes many forms from eating healthier, and meditating, to uncluttering your space and choosing house decor items that stimulate good moods.
